Experience Matters on your Core Drilling project

When looking for an experienced contractor to perform your mineral exploration drilling, its often tempting to go with the lowest cost option without evaluating the technical experience of the drillers in question. We’ve noticed that many of our customers choose to go with us because we offer the best value and offer an experienced team well versed in working on Public lands and in other projects with a challenging technical component.

Case in point, KP Exploration has been on a couple of projects recently in both Arizona and Nevada, one a core drilling project for lithium (pegmatite) and the other an RC drilling project for lithium brine in Nevada.

For the lithium pegmatite core drilling in Central Arizona, the customer was working on public lands and had some wildlife management considerations as a part of the drilling campaign. As a larger property, they had done some previous drilling and were less than impressed with the ability of the former driller to perform site management tending to some of the regulatory issues without compromising the drilling. When they brought us on, we put our considerable drilling experience to bear on both the drilling and core recovery, and our project management experience working at Superfund, DOD, and other sensitive sites to bear on the regulatory concerns associated with the project. As such we were able to increase both the core recovery and the penetration rate; while also meeting all of the regulatory hurdles that were required on the project. It was a win for them and turned out to be a great project for us.

As for RC drilling, we put the same technical knowledge to bear on the completion of some lithium brine wells in a loose playa formation in Tonopah, Nevada. At the time, the State of Nevada did not allow certain completion techniques on these wells and our knowledge of the then variances that were possible made it so that we could complete the wells with alternate completion methods meeting or exceeding the regulatory guidelines while obtaining better samples for the customer. These samples had the benefit of better sampling methodology than surrounding wells.
